]]>The post 3 Tips for Reorganizing Your Apartment This Fall appeared first on Citizen on Jasper Blog.
]]>You can shift your focus to get some much-needed cleaning done and bust out those cozy scented candles and autumn decor. You'll also be able to make space for those comfy fall sweatshirts and put away summer clothes you won't need for a while. Below are some of the best home organization methods and tips to help you transform your home this fall.
Pick The Organization Method Best Suited for You
You can take advantage of a few different organization methods when deciding how to organize your apartment. One of the most popular is a seasonal rotation method, where you swap out your items and decor at the beginning of each season. This method effectively saves space and time as you no longer have to shuffle through your belongings to find that rain hat or winter coat when it's time to use it. Another popular organizational idea to try out this fall is minimalism. The goal of minimalism involves reducing your items so you can live a more simple and relaxed lifestyle.
1. Create Goals and a Schedule
When organizing and decluttering your home, it's easy to get sidetracked in the seemingly endless amount of tasks that randomly pop up, such as baseboards that need another layer of paint or shelves that need dusting. Creating tangible goals and setting a schedule can help combat this.
For example, if you have one week to finish reorganizing, try assigning tasks to days. Tackle living room reorganization on Monday, and then on Tuesday, you can rotate and organize your closet clothes. By breaking up reorganizing into bite-size pieces, your tasks will feel easier and more achievable.
2. Section Items Into Categories: Keep, Toss, Donate
It can be helpful to equip yourself with a visual organization process once you begin reorganizing. Room by room, go through your items and determine which items you want to keep, which you want to throw away, and which you can donate. Set up bags or bins for each and label them so you can make decisions quickly and confidently.
3. Get Professional Organizing Tips With Our VIP Partner: Room to Breath Organizing
Sometimes, deciding how to declutter and restructure your space can feel overwhelming.
That's why this month, we've teamed up with Room to Breathe Organizing to bring you these tips and tricks for staying organized this holiday season. Check out the Room to Breathe website for even more home organization tips and products, such as the best organizers for the home, making use of vertical space, and getting the most out of your storage bins.

]]>If you’re ready to move toward a more sustainable lifestyle, keep reading for our top 5 tips.
Walk, Bike, or Use Public Transport Instead of Driving
It’s no secret that cars emit greenhouse gases, which have major implications for air quality and climate change. Minimizing your car usage and opting to walk, bike, or use public transit is a great way to significantly decrease your individual carbon footprint. As a bonus, walking or riding your bike is an easy way to sneak in some extra exercise, so you’re improving your health and the environment.
Participate in Clean Air Day
Clean Air Day falls on the Wednesday of Canadian Environment Week and serves to help us recognize the impact of air quality on our health, environment, and economy. Simple ways to participate in Clean Air Day include reducing your heat or air conditioning, turning off the lights to reduce energy waste from light bulbs, or even just learning about renewable energy sources.
Make Energy-Efficient Upgrades
You can make several energy-efficient upgrades in your apartment suite that reduce your energy consumption. Some ideas include investing in low-flow shower heads, growing your food by starting an indoor herb garden, using essential oils instead of synthetic air fresheners, or redecorating with sustainable materials like cotton, wood, glass, or bamboo. Plus, using less water when you live at Citizen helps you save the planet and save money; Citizen apartments have their own water meters, so you only pay for the water you use.
Take Advantage of Edmonton’s Recycling and Compost Programs
Due to the city's recycling and compost programs, sustainable living in Alberta is easy if you live in Edmonton. The city collects food scraps, processes them into biogas, and then burns them as clean, recycled fuel, diverting 90% of residential waste from the city landfill. All you need to do is separate your food scraps and yard waste from your general garbage into either a food scraps cart or a yard bag.
Apply for the Climate Innovation Grant
Do you have a project or idea to promote environmental living in Alberta? Consider applying for the Climate Innovation Grant, a grant program designed for organizations that want to be more eco-friendly in Edmonton and Calgary. Applications open in 2024, so you have plenty of time to come up with a unique idea to pitch to the committee.

Visit Alberta’s Legislature Grounds
Explore Alberta's rich history by taking a guided tour of its Legislature buildings. These tours are available throughout the summer and are free for visitors. Marvel at the stunning architecture of these historical buildings, constructed in the Beaux Arts style in 1913. This style features a large central dome above a spacious rotunda and draws inspiration from Greek, Roman, and Egyptian influences commonly used in public buildings during the early 1900s. Additionally, the Legislature grounds are ideal for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic.
Visit Many of Edmonton’s Beautiful Local Parks
Edmonton is home to many beautiful parks and nature reserves which are well worth visiting.
